Screening for colon cancer

In France, the recommended method of detecting colon cancer is by screening for blood in the stools. This measurement is sometimes distorted in patients using aspirin, for example after a heart attack. It is now possible to use an immunological test of patient stools that is not impacted by aspirin use (JAMA December 8, 2010).
