Medal Luncheon 2023

This year, the luncheon honored one of the Hospital’s dearest friends and most fervent supporters for the past 34 years, Maurice R. Greenberg, Chairman of the Starr Foundation.

Thanks to support from the Starr Foundation, the Hospital was able to build a world-class international conference center in the 1990s, as well as renovate several services, including our intensive care and emergency departments, and step up our scientific and medical collaboration with our American partners NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medicine. More recently, the Starr Foundation made an exceptional gift of 10 million dollars for our future flagship building, which is currently under construction.

Professor Sigal delivered a poignant speech in tribute to Maurice Greenberg and his heroism in World War II. Specifically, Mr. Greenberg participated in the Normandy Landings on June 6, 1944, and in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.

In recognition of services rendered to the American Hospital of Paris and to France, Stéphane Roussel, Chairman of the Board of Governors, presented Mr. Greenberg with the American Hospital of Paris Medal of Honor.
