Acquire a New Photon-Counting CT Scanner

In 2025, the American Hospital of Paris chose to invest in the very latest photon-counting technology developed by Siemens. We are the first private non-profit institution to be equipped with this revolutionary technology, and we now aim to acquire a second scanner of this kind.
Funding in progress
Overall budget: €2,565,000
Scanner à comptage photonique

Photon-counting CT scanners produce images with unprecedented precision, thereby improving early and granular detection of disease, particularly in cardiology and oncology. In addition, they reduce exposure to ionizing radiation, especially for children and vulnerable patients.

Our new scanner, which is expected to benefit approximately 12,000 patients annually, illustrates the innovation strategy of the American Hospital of Paris and our constant drive to promote medical excellence.

Project Aims

  • Offer a more powerful and reliable solution to our prescribing radiologists, clinicians and surgeons, as well as to our radiologic technologists;
  • Reduce exposure to X-rays as well as the doses of contrast agents;
  • Reinforce the American Hospital of Paris’s position of leadership in medical imaging.
Professor Olivier Vignaux, MD, PhD Head of the Imaging Department
Acquiring this new scanner is perfectly in line with our Hospital’s innovation strategy. Photon counting is a technological revolution. The heightened image precision allows us to significantly improve diagnosis for many diseases, with the additional benefit of reducing radiation doses by 30% and contrast agents by 25%! This technology paves the way for spectral imaging, which enables better analysis of the various organ tissues. By becoming the first private medical institution in France to acquire this revolutionary device, the American Hospital of Paris is pursuing its innovation strategy, aimed at achieving maximal benefits for patients.
