The American Hospital of Paris Creates a Prevention and Innovation Award

The American Hospital of Paris has created a Prevention and Innovation Award to honor start-ups in health care that have designed new solutions to promote prevention.

The Prevention and Innovation Award was created to spotlight one or more digital solutions focusing on prevention in health care.

Prix Prévention et Innovation

The Prevention and Innovation Award was created to spotlight one or more digital solutions focusing on prevention in health care.

The award is one of many prevention-oriented programs initiated in recent years by the American Hospital of Paris, a not-for-profit Hospital recognized as an institution of public benefit. Other programs include our Check-Up Center, which has been promoting prevention through health check-ups since 1991; patient education programs; supportive care programs that enhance the lives of cancer patients and prevent recurrence of the disease; and Healthy Longevity, a program designed to detect and delay the loss of independence after age 60.

Today, the American Hospital of Paris aims to extend its range of prevention-related services by developing innovative, tangible solutions that directly benefit patients. It is launching a request for proposals to spotlight one or more digital solutions focusing on prevention in health care. Proposals should address at least one of the following aspects of prevention: primary prevention, which occurs before the onset of disease; secondary prevention, which occurs in the early stages of a disease; or tertiary prevention, which deals with the complications arising from the disease and the risk of recurrence.

Proposals must focus on patient well-being and physical and mental health, and incorporate traditional e-health tools such as apps, smart objects, telemedicine, remote patient monitoring and home automation, or introduce new methods to analyze health data.

Request for Proposals
Through the Prevention and Innovation Award, the American Hospital of Paris will give more than a prize; it will also lend technical, financial and moral support to the winning proposal(s). The aim is to help start-ups test their solutions under real hospital conditions.
Through meetings and work sessions with experts in medicine, technology, business and science, the Hospital will assist the selected start-ups for a period ranging from three to six months, depending on individual needs.
Financial support will consist of a total of 100,000 euros to be divided among the selected companies to bring their project to fruition, by funding prototypes, need analyses and benchmarking, for example.
Each selected start-up will benefit from three months of support. After this initial phase, the Hospital will choose one start-up to test its solution in one of the existing prevention centers at the American Hospital of Paris.
Eligibility and Support
Candidates have until November 13, 2023 to submit their application. The selection committee will meet on December 4 and an initial selection of four start-ups will be announced on December 11. The support phase will begin on January 2, 2024 and in April, the solution(s) to be tested under real conditions at the American Hospital of Paris will be revealed.
