Signature accord-cadre de coopération AHP UVSQ Cornell

The agreement between the American Hospital of Paris, the Simone Veil Department of Health Sciences at UVSQ and Weill Cornell Medical College* in the United States translates the three institutions’ wish to collaborate on various teaching and research programs in order to enhance the expertise and experience of their respective teaching staff and students.

Thanks to the agreement, signed at the end of July, the three partners have decided to develop an exchange program for medical and midwifery students, hospital professors and teachers. In addition, they have agreed to explore areas of joint cooperation in clinical research and medical innovation. Symposiums, classes and seminars will also be organized jointly.

“The American Hospital of Paris has a strong, longstanding relationship with Weill Cornell Medical College. For many years we have wanted to formalize this relationship and ensure its longevity. We knew that the Simone Veil Department of Health Sciences, with which we have close ties, should also be involved at both the academic and scientific level. That is the driving ambition of this framework agreement: to increase the number of exchanges between France and the United States, whether regarding clinical research or exchange programs for students and doctors,” explains Professor Robert Sigal, Chief Executive Officer of the American Hospital of Paris.

Building on the historic ties between NewYork Presbyterian Hospital and the American Hospital of Paris, Professor Sigal has been working in close collaboration with Weill Cornell Medical College since 2017 in areas such as the hosting of students and hospital practitioners as well as clinical research programs. The Simone Veil Department of Health Sciences will now be a part of this partnership.

This agreement marks the launch of an exchange program for medical and midwifery students and professors from Université Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines with one of the United States’ top medical schools, as well as the development of an unprecedented institutional clinical research partnership. An important agreement for all three institutions, it will benefit not only students, hospital practitioners and teaching faculty, but also medical research and innovation,” said Professor Djillali Annane, former dean of the Simone Veil Department of Health Sciences and signatory of the agreement. Professor Loïc Josseran, who was appointed to replace Professor Annane last summer, is very pleased to continue this partnership, which is full of promise for all three institutions.

In 2021, the Simone Veil Department of Health Sciences at Université de Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines was invited by Weill Cornell Medical College and the American Hospital of Paris to join their partnership by participating in the Harvey Cushing Symposium entitled “Covid, After the Storm?”. While the three institutions were gathered for the Symposium, organized by the American Hospital of Paris in April 2022, they decided to formalize their cooperation with a framework agreement.
