Before your stay

Our support begins before your stay

Estimating hospital costs, reserving your room, confirming dates…our team is there to help even before you arrive.

Your financial information

Before you arrive, our Patient Information team will give you a cost estimate for your hospital visit. This estimate is based on information given by your doctor. The doctor will either include his/her fee in the estimate or will inform you directly.
Our Patient Information Service will carry out a personalized assessment of the level of reimbursement you may be eligible for under the French national health insurance, and what costs your additional health insurance could cover. To do this, the Patient Information Service requires a copy of your health insurance contract.

Reserving your room

If you choose the American Hospital of Paris for your stay, your doctor’s office will reserve your room for a time agreed upon by you and your doctor.

Confirming the dates of your hospitalization

A few days before the agreed date of your hospital stay, the Admissions Office will contact you to:

  • Confirm the reservation made by your doctor
  • Give you the time of your admission
  • Answer questions you may have about your time in hospital and provide you with any necessary practical information (what documents to bring, etc.).

Outpatient hospitalization (0 nights):

A nurse will contact you 24 hours before your scheduled arrival date. He or she will make sure you have followed any special instructions given by your anesthesiologist.

You must bring the following documents with you the day of your admission:

  • Appointment schedule and any other papers sent by the hospital or your doctor.
  • Medical documents (X-rays, copies of medical reports, lab analyses, signed consent forms, etc.)
  • Administrative documents such as your French national health insurance card (Carte Vitale and attestation), private health insurance documents, etc.
  • ID card or passport (for non-French patients).
  • Current prescriptions or a list of medication you are currently taking, including dosages.

Why bring your prescription and your medication?

Why bring your prescription and your medication? To ensure the quality and safety of the care we provide you, we need to know what medication you are on when you are admitted to the hospital. That’s why we ask that you bring your drug prescriptions and the medication itself.
