Virtual colonoscopy is an early screening imaging test that looks for potentially cancerous colon lesions. Colorectal cancer is the most common form of cancer in France in both genders combined.
This test can be scheduled after a general health check-up. It is painless, risk-free and less invasive than a regular colonoscopy. Simple bowel preparation is required before the examination.
Virtual colonoscopy does not require anesthesia or iodine injection.
The test lasts 15 minutes and the patient is free to leave immediately after.
When the colonoscopy reveals healthy intestines, it usually rules out cancerous diseases. For patients without personal or family history, we recommend the test starting at age 50. Optical colonoscopy remains however the “gold standard” for patients with a personal or family history of digestive conditions.
